Drifted

“I enjoy talking to myself. I mean, what do you think

play-writers, bloggers and poets do all the time? If you

don’t enjoy wordplay, and losing your thoughts in

situations that affects you, and reformat it into some

kind of understandable monologue, honestly do you

think you have the niche to become a writer? I

monologue all the time~ and am loving it!

That doesn’t mean I am crazy!

Maybe a bit drifted…

Beggars On The Streets

“There’d still be beggars on the streets

for as long as there are those

who capitalize on the simple

and the weak

and charges exorbitantly

from those in need.

There’d still be beggars on the streets

when one’s prayers

are rudimentarily centered

upon oneself.

There’d still be beggars on the streets

when education and healthcare

is not free for a lifetime

and monopoly is allowed to thrive

in a capitalistic society.”

Preference

“Everyone has a preference and that preference makes you identifiable. I

t is that preference that separates you from other collectors that no patron,

architect, designer, curator, style, trend, interest, hobbyists or other collectors

can influence you on, when it comes to setting your own taste. Everyone has

a preference of form, subject, style, medium, shapes, colors, composition,

texture etc. All these shapes your taste.

A good friend will accept your preference whereas a bad one will consider

your preference inferior to his or hers. A preference makes you true to your

liking instead of goose hunting other people’s opinion and taste. Do not be

unduly influenced. That only happens to freshies.”

Need of Focal Point?

“Art always emphasizes on the focal point of a picture. It is that spot where your eye fixes and the whole composition grows and revolves around it. That interpreted, if art then is nature, the focal point would be the crater atop the volcano as seen on plan where everything caves in. And everything that revolves around it are just bleak terrains. Of hardened lava perhaps? Where then is the garden where a child hops around splattering their feet in the stream? Where then are the decayed logs where the mushrooms sprout? And the spiders spin their webs? Where then does the rabbit burrows? Does such formality always apply on every subject matter in art? For someone who has been dabbling in art for four decades and growing, I would say no.

If someone painted humor, that humor would be constrained if the composition is symmetrical. That turns the painting into a whimper of giggles instead of listening to a big loud roar. Why is that so? Because where the focal points are, there, symmetry would be also. Symmetry draws stiffness unless that is what is intended in your composition.

The conclusion is, subject matters will decide your composition. A good composition is about balance, not symmetry. Good artist will know when to emphasize on focal points and when it needs to disintegrate into a landscape garden. Paintings with a focal point may draw attentions better initially, but given that if you are going to live with it and face it all day long for the next five years or more, it is those without a focal point that won’t bore you. Perhaps it may also be because men are all born hunters, their affinity to nature and garden is natural indeed. That said, paintings without focal points are not necessarily bad compositions. All in all, it still depends on the context. Especially in larger sized paintings, try to compose a garden. There are lots of stories to tell in a garden and people’s eyes wander around when in a garden. That’s what makes larger paintings come alive. The experienced aficionados of art has got to agree even when the conventional audience disagree.”

Save Our World

“Man cannot befriend another man even though they are just next to them. Man cannot befriend another man, not unless they recognize some similarities between them. Without the similarities, they will appear defensive and many a time, hostile, when they don’t see eye to eye with you on things that mattered. Those similarities are created, sadly, using religion, race, origin, status, and common interest as a divide. And that is really a shame.

The internet is a wonderful platform that enables humans to bind together, worldwide. That brings about huge possibilities for people across borders to befriend one another. It is an invisible bridge that connects us. They say it has become a borderless world. But the grounded reality is, even neighboring countries still stays disconnected due to strict border controls. One still needs visa approval to cross borders, passports to verify your origin and screening laws they claim protect themselves against aliens like you.

It’s a laughing shame that humans cannot accept other humans as their own. Many fail to recognize that we are of one race. The human race. They color code you, like how their forefathers color coded your ancestors and insisted you not to betray what they believed in. They teach you how to bear grudges against their enemies for another two millennium. They want you to make their enemies, your own. The impatient uses you to seek revenge promising you martyrdom .If you don’t, you’d be considered a heresy in need of deliverance. In extreme cases, they sent you straight to heaven first, with the mindset vested in them to look at you as the devil when you are all human inside. Unfortunately this divide happens all the time between believers of different denominations, sometimes between the same denomination attending different temples. Family members with different beliefs continue to stay broken. As if we don’t have another choice. Or do we?

As humans, all of us are endowed with only one brain. We can choose to think good, or we can choose to think bad. Not unless you are born a freak of course. Likewise, we have only one tongue. We can choose to speak good, or we may choose to speak bad. So indeed, we do have choices to think or express ourselves. And to look the other way when we see or hear foolishness blasting on the main media everyday. We can all react correctly if we wanted to.

On the other hand, we can choose to be affected and get distracted by all the silliness happening around the world. Still, there is instinctively a clear choice for us. Be it to think positively, or negatively, given situations that appears to be unpleasant.

My personal appeal to everyone is to try to react correctly and help save this world. Our world. If we don’t, God will come. And show us how to compromise through our shortcomings. Maybe you want that to happen. To show to your God how weak you are. Even when you are made in his image? I don’t.

Be a master of your own destiny. Be weary of those who seek similarities using religion, race, origin, creed, status, and common interest as a divide. That can unduly break up friendship, acquaintanceship, even families. Save our world.”

Of molehills and beehives

“The meaning and purpose of life become clearer when we look closer at the ants and the bees. As earthlings, we are all destined to build kingdoms just like they do, their many molehills and hives, amidst all the grandeur the kingdom of God has to offer. Except that as people, our ways are a little more complex than theirs given that we were deprived of feathers, furs and fins but was endowed with grey matters significantly larger than theirs. And we got sidetracked somehow whilst building the biggest molehill on earth, we wanted it to touch the Sky. But as the story goes, God did not allow it to happen. Anyway, so eventually, the whole world will, if fate would have it, come together as one, if all of us fight for a common good to save our planet from destruction, and build and build sensible things within and beyond. What we do with ourselves daily as we contribute to the growth is the little little rejoices and surprises we are rewarded with for efforts well spent just like the ants and the bees, occasionally stumbling upon some exotic nectar, or upsets even, as they fall into pit-holes and traps.”

False Reasonings

“Lift off the veil and you’d see clearer. Take off your shoes and you’d understand pain. For what which has clouded you from truth and what which has protected you from thorns, is what that has basked you in comfort all this while, blinding you with false reasonings. Take them all off and wisdom shall once again, be yours”.

Faith and it’s Challenges

“Heaven speaks to us through our sight. How we feel after, we must allow what goes on in our head to balance what goes on into our heart measuring it with goodness and responsibility. With or without your faith bothering you.

Challenges are everywhere. Challenges stems from our desire. And It is not only about ghostly spirits, evil charms or practices that could harm your inner temple. Challenges has appeared in the form of a stack of cash deposited to you as a cashier of a bank. Challenges can also appear as an image of a harmless fully clothed woman. Or even a camel when there is no woman in sight. How can a woman who throughout her existence be a friend to many but be raped then murdered just because she appears to be a threat to someone else’s desire?

Thus, are we suppose to make things appear and disappear from our sight at our convenience just because it tempts our desire? And get rid of every single element in front of us just because it goes against our faith?

Who are we to impose such rules upon others who could even be better in tackling challenges than us just because your faith said no? Who are we to get rid of things that God makes? Like pigs for instance. For if it is not worth God’s measure to include pigs into the animal kingdom, would pigs have appeared? Isn’t this world God’s creation?

So change your mindset my friend. I say to you that these things aren’t threats. Things that appear as threats to you is not necessarily a threat to others. Your threat stems from your desire. You may have a weakness for tv but to someone else, it could be ice cream. And if your desire is ice cream, your threat if went uncontrolled resulted in diabetes. And if your desire is liquor or sex, it may destroy the relationship you have with your wife and family. I have a group of friends who delivers and exorcise spirits. Today they are still alive and helping others. They did not become part of the evil spirit exorcised. Thus, the real threat my friend, lies within you yourself for not being able to control your own desires. Temptations and desire is your threat. Not what others do.

You can lock up a person but not his spirit and soul , or how they were created and endowed with. But a dance that originates way before the existence of your God and his teachings? Let it be. Regard it as a sport, entertainment and tradition that was passed down to you and abandoning it means cutting off an element which will make your whole existence questionable because bits and pieces were torn off your flesh which makes you unidentifiable. Be proud of your origin.

Your education and journey in faith came later as you begin to read and write. Faith didn’t teach us how to walk and run. That is a trait that came first through creation. Man was made to walk first. Man could do things way before God appears into their lives as faith.

Thus, control your desires at all times, so that your faith remains strong. Not control the externals that you feel could tempt you. Let others live the way they are called to. To put it in another way, you are in no position to be accused or punished for the sins they commit.

Let your faith be the light and example for others to see in the darkness. Let your example be known that others may follow you. But if keeping faith means punishing, ridiculing and barring others to live the life they choose so you could climb to heaven and not be tempted, let me say this to you. No one will follow you or your way of life unless it is by duress. And if that is the case, then, you need to reinspect your faith.

Listen to your inner voice at all times.”

Being Sardonic

When decent looking people overdresses, they’d look gaudy, not classy. I just wonder the contours behind all those cover up and ponder if you’re really that badly made cos really, I am bewildered with your spasticity. Not that I am being sardonic.

Uncontrollable

This world needed two sets of rules to regulate. One, for men to abide with and the other, for the place or the environment men lives in. Because men stupendously destroys his own environment and everything within his reach, then, men destroys himself.
Men, must in other words be controlled, before they become uncontrollable. Ever wonder how men left behind massive monuments like the Pyramids of Giza or the Great Wall of China without people in it?

Likewise, for great men that they revere to, they encast their achievements on stone steles or encase them inside catacombs, thus making relics out of them, after they expired. As for the insignificant rest, to dust they all head to.
Thus, when we encounter a well regulated country with everything running smoothly and efficiently, we all know that the two sets of rules are constantly in motion and cogged, with the strictest of enforcement. If not, men would have run it down, like how they ran everything down, and in the end, gave us lost civilizations.”

Chneh Meh Kay

(Version in Hokkien)

Chneh Meh Kay

Tok Tiok Tharng

.

(Version in English)

A blind chicken

Pecks a worm!

.

About this saying:~

This phrase/saying is commonly used to describe how luck could strike undeserving people the same way a chicken , though blind, could peck worms.

The author/owner has compiled for record, a collection of early Hokkien sayings, proverbs, rhymes and ditties to capture the essence and spirit of his hoi polloi, a community originating from the southern province of Fujian, China where individuals climbed aboard bum boats, crossing the South China Sea to settle in faraway lands to escape the brewing civil unrest and a way out from hardship carrying along with them in their journey, nothing except their trademark ponytails and their beliefs, very much rooted in Confucianism. These ditties retell their story and their lifestyle way back then so that the younger generation can gain an insight and foothold to their origin..

Ton-Tin

“When one loses at the gambling table, one can either swiftly stand up and leave quietly or stay to sharpen one’s skill by deepening one’s anguish. One has no right to accuse the croupier or worse, corrupt the entire deck that has already been distributed. That is the trait of a loser everyone abhors.

In this scenario, the loser in his endeavor to stay relevant turns crafty thus he devices a ton-tin scheme where unbeknownst to the stakehouse, he manipulates the game by convincing all the naive gamblers to be his cohort because when no one wants to lose, everyone is kept on their toes, thus, he himself is kept safe.’

A Better Denominator

Sports is a better denominator for world peace. It speaks a common lingo the whole world understands. And sportsmanship rules are abided by every participant. Those who breaks it gets penalized beit banned, disqualified or having their titles stripped off in disgrace. No need for weapons.

Those in business also knows that most deals got done on the golf courses than in the boardroom.

Thus from where we came from, in our own country, some arseholes need to learn that centuries old disputes could be settled backdoor because of friendship inculcated through sports. Instead of using it to create more tension.

Perhaps some arseholes should learn how not to get emotional and mind other people’s business, when our own train has jumped track eversince.

Lift the Veil

“We must all learn to lift the veil of colors and belief from our eyes so as to see beauty in diversity which engulfs us and places us into this big blue marble that won’t come again, if we fail to cherish it.

We must look at talent and sincerity, not beauty plastered on people’s faces or that which covers or adorn their body.

We need to restore sanity and sanctity by behaving nice and harmless towards everyone, and heighten our sensibility towards nature and its aroma, its sights and sounds and wonders, and be willing to accept part ownership to this globe which belongs first to they who comes before us.

With these things we do, we would hover up the ladder of Utopianism and strut forward towards achieving the idea of self governance without the interference of trying greedy governments. And stop stereotyping people according to caste, beliefs, race, states or even continents.

God gave every creature in this world he create differently sized brains and to us humans, he endows us with the biggest.

But that is for us to develop perfection, not competition and to develop charity, not scarcity so that triumph would eventually be ours so we could conquer the entire universe and witness it’s magical frontier. Ignore those who does nothing but plant seeds of public disobedience and deception.

Accomplishment is learning and knowing when to stop drifting. Sow seeds of goodness to others, preaching love , acceptance and forgiveness instead of harping on faults and learn how to laugh. Look at the brighter, lighter side of life instead of brooding over your lacks. Stop airing your minuscule grouses which may affect other people’s lives. Learn how to laugh at yourself.

Share your wealth. Help the underprivileged, the oppressed, the weak and the sick. And know that everyone has exclusive rights to their own belief, rights to live, rights to choose, and rights to speak, to create and think. For as long as they did not harm, hurt, disrupt, destroy or kill others and the planet we all lived in. Stand up and speak out against unruly lawmakers and bad laws. Silence only breeds them.

When all these are observed, then can we truly be on the road towards one nationhood under the big umbrella we call sky.”

Holistic

“A woman’s mind is as murky as the muddy river because they simply cannot declassify. But the beauty of possessing a holistic mind is that they can lump actions with dire consequences which made them the far safer sex. Anyhow, it twitches me to know how yoga could possibly help women untwine unless they are prepared to lose their identity and become man instead. Speaking with a coarser voice, growing beards under their chin, eating fajitas wearing a hot sweaty singlet.”

Gallantry

“A man cannot give up his gallantry in exchange for truce with his partner of the opposite sex. Even though a woman may feel safer and secure with a compliant man she can dominate, her esteem for him will wean off eventually , once she notices her all familiar ‘ knight in shining armor ‘ losing grip over his own identity of being a man. The symptom begins with her telling others that she is the one who wears pants in her family.? Well well…
I am not saying men must deny the rightful privileges accorded to the female specie. I am not telling you to treat her badly. All I am saying is that if you have reasons to believe that your partner erred, be firm and stand solid on your ground when you spell it out to her. Let her see the knight within you ooze out from the cavalry in which she secretly craves. But never, never ever appease her unsettledness with apologies just because you longed for a moment of peace. These are the things most men habitually does that you shouldn’t do. The female specie is lousy at reasoning and logic. They fail to understand the dynamics of how she could be the root cause of his wussy behavior. Deep down, woman indeed craves for a hero who could sweep her off her feet, one which she was totally smittened with a long time ago. It is in-built within their system. It is something most women are unaware of and is affirmed in every Disney cartoon movie. A woman wants and craves for a knight in shining armor. Not a minion hiding under her pinion .
Thus, to the man, behave like how a rightful man behaves and if possible, behave like a gentleman.”

Secret of Success

The secret of success is not in keeping opportunities to yourself but in giving opportunities to others. The goodness echoing behind you is more valuable than the praises others sing in front of you. Always stay humble.
