unsubstantiated estimates

Unlike shares or stocks that are fungible, individual works of art are both distinctive and unique in medium, size, composition, quality and salability . The application of an across the board opinion to works of art by nature ignores the uniqueness of works of art, and is therefore inappropriate. At best, opinions should be tiered and salability alone by hotly demanded artist would have ruled out the fair market value compounded by unsubstantiated estimates set by irresponsible auction houses.
