dawn breaks with eyes of gloom
crumbs fed into a bottomless pit
paper scribbles carelessly tossed
wiping tears with streams of love
i am sorry, i truly am..
hurtful charades are unnecessary

JP
thanks jp..
This is amazing! Great work!
thanks ghb10..
Well. well…what to make of this. For starters it is very well written…the imagery takes you right there. Then, there is the mystery. I can read this two ways. Regrets for your own behavior …or…a regretful commentary on how you were treated. To me, that makes the piece all the more compelling. Anyway…I enjoyed. Vb
thanks vb..
Happy potluck! Great addition! 🙂
same to you kellie..
This is really lovely. The “I am sorry” is the scariest part and yet the most important. :o)

“paper scribbles carelessly tossed”
Love this line. So much sadness in so few words.
Lovely.
each one loves one line and i am in heaven haha!
This is so beautiful and I can very much relate. My ex and I have had hurtful charades, but we always say we are sorry and forgive each other. I just wrote a post on this and a reader just said that she doesn’t believe that apologizing makes it better. I’d love your take on it. http://www.postcardsfromapeacefuldivorce.com/1444/the-power-of-anger/
thanks molly..
Truth told here. I am impressed at the narrator’s insight and apology. Says a lot.
tq kim..
yes, charades are not necessary and sometimes paper scribbles just can’t climb the mountain. great work.
tq wordy..
made me feel so sad. 😦
nicely done, as always.
thanks dishi..

Excellent poem.
tq david..
This is truly brilliant. I always wonder how you say so much in few words.

eh? really? thanks mr rhymer..
Sad but hopeful at the end…maybe not all, but some can learn from their fights and mistakes…like how you pack so much in so few words. Thanks for visiting.
tq rekha..
Not hard to figure out that this is serious to feel like this when waking up. No charades..I like that the end is open to good things happening with this couple.
thanks judy..
Love the end… I’m sorry, I truly am…
I hate to admit it, but yes, sometimes charades are necessary. Ugh. There. I said it.
hahaha rhyme rhyme! that’s cheeky..
ouch- well done
haha thanks kathe..
I love this, I seem to always love your writing. Thanks for sharing, and keep it up! : )
-Roxanne
you are flattering me roxanne..
Whatever the issue is, I like the way you handled it. No excuses or long windedness, just an authentic feeling response. That is so refreshing. Some times when I hurt my wife’s feelings, I will simply lay down on the ground no matter where(Costco, Rite Aid, the middle of the street) and stick all my limbs up into the air. Often the healing is immediate and graced with some laughs. I am trying to teach her to do it more with with me, but alas, some one must blaze the trail.
Cheers
PS-Thanks for reading my poem.
thanks tiger.. thats a great idea to stick all your limbs up and lie just anywhere haha!
I like how the title ties in with the feel/atmosphere of the poem. They do seem like paper scribbles, as a writer i know how during the outpour of feelings one ends up scribbling lines.
thanks 83october..
Brilliant again! I know where you’re coming from with this one, I think we can all relate!
tq thoughts unchained..

Aahh…well said, Kris… sometimes, actions (or even silence) speaks a lot louder than words…
Lies are really not needed.. (sigh)
thanks kavi..
thanks tiger :)..
Sometimes silence says everything there is to say, especially when “I’m sorry” isn’t enough. You definitely didn’t pull any punches with this one!
huh? huh? haha! what? nvm..
Intense words my friend!
Bottom- less pit? hmmmm
Smiles xx
